Grammy Nominee James Blunt Visits Gibson Custom Shop in Memphis

08.20.2008

Singer/songwriter James Blunt has many credits to his name, including five GRAMMY nominations, landing the first No. 1 hit in the U.S. by a British artist since Elton John's “Candle in the Wind” in 1997, and winning two MTV Awards and two Brit Awards. Blunt recently visited the Gibson Custom Shop in Memphis, Tennessee with his band during a stopover on his American tour.

The Gibson Custom Shop in Memphis is home to some of the world's most preeminent luthiers who handcraft Gibson's fine Electric Spanish and Archtop lines, producing models like B.B King's Lucille, the ES-175, and the iconic ES-335, the world's original semi-hollowbody, first introduced by Gibson in 1958.

Blunt and his band were given a personal tour of the plant and witnessed firsthand the extraordinary craftmanship and creativity that is part of the production process.

Blunt’s newest release is out September 18 on Custard/Atlantic Records and is a collection of very honest and moving lyrics about recent experiences. He is also currently on tour with Sheryl Crow. Dates and venues for the tour can be found at www.jamesblunt.com.
